Prudence Family CoverPru.co.uk Life Insurance is known as 'Prudence Family Cover', this ensures security for your family, the flexibility to increase or decrease your cover and a minimum term of 5 years.
Although thinking about what happens when you die isn't pleasant, it is something that has to be addressed. Especially if you have children.
With Pru.co.uk's help, you can decide how much cover your family will need. And how long you want the cover to last (it has to be a minimum of five years). If the unthinkable should happen and you die during this period, Pru.co.uk will pay the chosen lump sum to your family.
Alternatively, if you are diagnosed as having a terminal illness (as defined by Pru.co.uk), before the last year of the selected term, the lump sum can be paid earlier to help you plan your family's future.
You may also be able to increase your cover at any time by taking out an additional plan, if you meet the age, medical and minimum cover requirements at that time.
Prudence Critical Illness Cover This plan provides cover for you and your family if you are diagnosed with a critical illness or become permanently disabled, you pay small monthly payments and have the flexibility to increase or decrease your cover.
Imagine if the unthinkable happens and you are diagnosed with a critical illness or become permanently disabled. Paying your bills will be the last of your worries, but something that you'll need to cope with.
Although the State might provide some financial support, it's unlikely to cover more than the basics. You may have dip into savings or give up some valuable possessions.
Prudence Critical Illness Cover offers you peace of mind by providing you with a lump sum to help you and your family through a difficult time. The money could pay for extra costs, such as alternative treatment or home modification should you be diagnosed as having one of the specified critical illnesses. The payment will be paid to you only after a period of 28 days.
This policy doesn't just cover you. If one of your children contracts a specified critical illness or suffers total permanent disability, we will pay out 25% of the cover you have taken out up to a maximum of £10,000. To qualify, they must be at least 3 years and under 18 years.
Prudence Critical Illness Cover allows you to choose the amount of cover you or your family need (subject to a maximum level cover of £150,000 per life) and the length of time you want to be covered for (minimum 5 years). You can also decrease your level of cover at any time, or increase your cover by taking out an additional plan if you meet our age, medical and minimum cover requirements.
How does the policy work? You decide how long you want cover for. This can be any period between 5 and 40 years, but must end before your 69th birthday. You pay a premium every month to keep your cover in force.
How much life insurance cover should I have? The level of cover, together with any other cover you may have, should be adequate to provide for your dependants should you die.
What will I pay?Your payments will depend mainly on your age, your health, your selected cover and selected term.
When would the policy pay out?On death within the selected term, Pru.co.uk will pay the guaranteed lump sum. Alternatively, this amount would become payable earlier, on request, if you are diagnosed as having a terminal illness (where you are expected to die within 12 months of the diagnosis) before the last year of your policy, and the diagnosis is acceptable to Pru.co.uk. If the lump sum is paid due to terminal illness your cover will cease and there will be no further payment on your death.
Can I reduce the level of cover if my circumstances change?Yes, the level of cover can be reduced at any time (but not below a minimum amount) and a reduced monthly premium will then become payable.
Can I increase the level of cover if my circumstances change? You may be able to increase your cover, by taking out an additional policy if you meet our age, medical and minimum cover requirements at that time. Depending on your age and state of health when your policy starts, it may contain an option to increase your cover without further medical evidence if you become a parent or adopt a child.
Cancellation rightsProvided your application is accepted, you will receive a notice of your right to cancel. You will then have 30 days in which you can change your mind. If you do not wish to change your mind no action is necessary on your part.
Your paymentsPremiums are payable monthly by direct debit throughout the selected term or until a benefit is paid.
TaxYou do not pay income or capital gains taxes on the benefit. The death benefit may be subject to inheritance tax unless you put your policy in trust.
